Columbia County EOC Tour and ARES Presentation!

The Columbia County EMA Director, Andrew Leanza (KN4EPC) and the Columbia County ARES Emergency Coordinator  Pete LaPierre (K1OYQ) would like to invite all area ARES members and those who may be interested in Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) to a demonstration/meeting at the Columbia County EOC located at 650-B Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans, GA 30809 on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 10 AM until Noon.

Items on the agenda will include a short presentation on what ARES is, Georgia ARES Organization, ARES training requirements, how ARES is integrated with the County EMA, SKYWARN activity in our area, some examples of recent ARES involvement in natural disasters and emergencies, and examples of some of the modes and methods of communication used by present day ARES. Following the presentation there will be a tour of the Columbia County EOC and a demonstration of the Amateur Radio capability of the EOC/MOC.
