Harlem, a city within Columbia County, GA is the birthplace of Oliver Hardy. The City of Harlem hosts the Oliver Hardy Festival every year on the first Saturday of October. The Amateur Radio Club of Columbia County (ARCCC), Inc. enjoys participating in this festival by hosting an information booth about amateur radio and the club, as an outreach to those who are not amateur radio operators.
This year, in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Oliver Hardy Festival, ARCCC will host special event station W4O from 4:00 PM on October 5th through 4:00 PM on October 6th. We will operate stations from the festival site in Harlem, as well as from operators’ homes. Additionally, the Furness Amateur Radio Society in England will operate special event station GB9SL, in honor of Stan Laurel, on the same day.
