ARRL Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
The Amateur Radio Club of Columbia County (ARCCC), Inc. encourages all club members to participate in this year’s FD by attending our operation and/or operating their own stations!
This year ARCCC, Inc. will have an abbreviated, one-day Class 2A operation at Camp Tanglewood in Evans, GA, on Saturday, June 27th. Setup will begin at 8:00 AM, and operations will take place from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Due to COVID-19, the club is taking social distancing precautions like many other clubs around the country.
In addition to this abbreviated one-day club operation, we are encouraging all club members to operate as individual or small group stations (within guidelines of social distancing and safe practices for all). Please mark your calendars now for Saturday, June 27th & Sunday, June 28th for FD. Operating begins at 2:00 PM and ends 24 hours later.
To assist you in preparing for ARRL Field Day, especially if you plan to operate from home, ARCCC, Inc. has created a PDF document with useful information to help you set up and operate.
The ARCCC, Inc. Field Day Committee plans and coordinates outstanding Field Day events, to include Winter Field Day in January, and ARRL Field Day in June!
ARCCC, Inc. will operate as K4KNS, using club radios, antennas and equipment. Hands-on training and coaching will be provided for new operators and loggers. Operators will have an opportunity to make SSB, CW and digital modes contacts with other stations located across the country, and throughout the world.
